(Patria) - Široki Brijeg eliminated Željezničar today in the semi-finals of the BiH Cup and will compete for the trophy against Sarajevo, which defeated Banja Luka's Borac over two legs.
Široki lost today at Grbavica 1-0, but thanks to a three-goal advantage from the first leg played at Pecara (3-0), they will contend for the cup and a place in Europe, reports Faktor.
The only goal of the match was scored by Boljević from a penalty in the 37th minute.
Referee Sivac pointed to the spot after the ball hit substitute Mekić's hand following a shot by Krpić.
The Zenica official initially did not call anything, but corrected his decision after intervention from the VAR room and a review of the footage.
Before that, Željo had a good chance through Šošić in the 16th minute, when goalkeeper Josipovič made a good save, and in the 14th minute Stanić hit the crossbar directly from a corner.
The first half was not rich in chances, and the second even less so. Široki Brijeg managed to slow down the game and "turn the tide in their favour".
Worth noting is Lukić's attempt in the 54th minute, which was blocked. Željo threatened in the 59th minute through Boljević, whose shot from the right side was off target.
Željo will now seek a position to reach the European stage through the BiH Premier League, and currently only third place is guaranteed.
If Sarajevo wins the BiH Cup and finishes among the top three teams, then fourth place will also lead to the Conference League qualifiers.
If Široki Brijeg gets the trophy, they will secure a European spot, along with the top three teams of the Bosnian elite.
