Seminar on Workplace Harassment: How to Adequately Resolve Problems Between Employers and Employees?

(Patria) - Workplace harassment in practice, recognition and prevention, is the topic of a seminar that will be held in March in Ilidža.

The lecturers will be Tatjana Marković, Master of Psychological Sciences (UKC Banja Luka) and Danijela Radonić, Master of Law, Secretary of the Higher Commercial Court in Banja Luka and arbitrator at the Public Institution Agency for Peaceful Resolution of Labor Disputes of Republika Srpska.

Danijela Radonić, the originator of the application "PreMobbing", through which employees can report harassment they are exposed to at their workplaces, says in a statement to Capital that its goal and purpose is to help both parties resolve problems and eliminate them before it is too late or before far-reaching consequences occur.

- The application allows the employer to see in time that something bad is happening in the company. It is said that one who suffers workplace harassment is no longer effective in the work they perform, and their bad mood can affect those around them.

The consequences are often apathy, poor results, but also frequent long-term sick leaves. In this relationship, the employee suffers the consequences, but also the employer who is left without a good employee, and without profit. In addition to all this, we must keep in mind that employees are leaving in large numbers.

All these are indicators for the employer that they have problems and that they can solve them earlier - points out Radonić.

She explains that this phenomenon causes greater damage to the employer than previously thought, and that workplace harassment is far more widespread than reported.

- The Law on Prevention of Workplace Harassment has not yielded particularly good results, and through this application, we want to offer a simpler way to solve problems within the company, before the conflict escalates and reaches the court, before the employee's health deteriorates - adds Radonić.

The employee fills out the application under their own name and surname and answers a series of questions to determine if mobbing exists. After submitting the answers, the employee receives a notification to formally report the harassment, but they do not have insight into the results of the questionnaire.

The result of the completed questionnaire is sent to the employer, who cannot see which questions were asked to the employee, nor what their answers were. In case the employer is the one committing mobbing, the employee will be immediately directed to seek legal protection.

- The essence of the application is for the employer to manage the risk of workplace harassment and to avoid lengthy court proceedings, i.e., to resolve the problem within the company - concludes Radonić.

The seminar "Workplace Harassment in Practice, Recognition and Prevention" will be held on March 21 at the Hotel Hollywood in Ilidža from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
