(Patria) - A Ryanair aircraft with 55 passengers from Girona landed at Sarajevo International Airport this morning at 08:45 local time, marking the first direct connection between Sarajevo and Spain.
Upon landing, a traditional water salute was performed, and passengers were given commemorative gifts provided by the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board.
The delegation from Spain, consisting of the President of the Province of Girona, Miquel Noguer, the Director of the Airport of Catalonia, Jordi Candela Garriga, and the President of the Girona Tourist Board, Jaume Dulsat, was welcomed at Sarajevo International Airport by the Mayor of Sarajevo, Predrag Puharić, and the management of Sarajevo Airport.
The establishment of another air route from the list of strategic destinations confirms the successful cooperation between Sarajevo International Airport, the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, and the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board. This cooperation continuously achieves results aimed at tourism growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina and also contributes to strengthening the economy of our region.
The delegation from Spain will stay in Sarajevo for two days, during which they will have the opportunity to explore the beauty of Sarajevo, its culture and tradition, and hold a series of meetings with government representatives.
On this occasion, a press conference is scheduled for April 3 at 11:00 AM at the City Hall, as announced by Sarajevo International Airport.
