Sarajevo First Finalist of BiH Cup

(Patria) - Sarajevo footballers advanced to the BiH Cup final with a victory over Borac in Banja Luka.

The 'Bordo' team triumphed 2-0 in today's second leg of the semi-final, overcoming the deficit from the first leg, which Banja Luka won 1-0 at Košev, writes Faktor.

It was clear from the first minute that Sarajevo had not come to the city on the Vrbas river to try Banja Luka's ćevapi, but to extinguish the grill, overcome the first-leg deficit, and advance to the Cup final.

In the second minute, Sarajevo threatened after a corner, Šiškovski saved Borac.

Sarajevo took the lead in the 18th minute, equalizing the deficit from the first leg. Kyeremeh scored.

Pavičić gained a lot of space, passed to the left for Mujkić, who crossed into the penalty area where Kyeremeh found himself in an excellent position and, immediately after receiving the ball, precisely hit the unguarded part of the Banja Luka team's goal.

This was the first goal Borac conceded after seven consecutive matches in which they kept a clean sheet.

The visitors controlled Borac excellently, not allowing them to get too close to Rogić's goal.

The Banja Luka team managed to create a promising chance in the 34th minute when Vuković broke through on the left and crossed, the ball reached the isolated Kulašin at the far post, who shot it sloppily over the goal.

In the 37th minute, Kuprešak shot powerfully, the header was blocked by Nikolov, who fell to the ground. After receiving medical attention, he continued the match.

In the second half, Sarajevo was again the team that threatened first.

In the 51st minute, on a counter-attack, Kuprešak found Kyeremeh, who entered the penalty area and shot, but his aim was not as precise as in the 18th minute.

Borac had their best chance of the match through Vuković in the 68th minute, but Rogić, with a great effort, deflected the ball into a corner.

In the 71st minute, Sarajevo had a golden opportunity to double their lead. Substitute Butić, shortly after entering the game, went clear on Šiškovski, played with the ball, attempted a dribble, and wasted a 100% chance.

What Butić could not do, Pavičić, who was excellent today, did just two minutes later. Bubanja sent the ball into the penalty area, Pavičić made an excellent run and headed past the home goalkeeper.

From the 79th minute, the Banja Luka team had a numerical advantage after Kuprešak received a second yellow card, but with their superiority in numbers, they could not seriously threaten Sarajevo's goal until the end.

Interestingly, this was the fourth match of the season between Borac and Sarajevo. Sarajevo won two matches in Banja Luka, and Borac celebrated twice at Košev.

The same rivals will face each other again on Saturday in Banja Luka as part of the 26th round of the BiH Premier League.

Sarajevo will play the Cup final against the winner of the match between Željezničar and Široki Brijeg. The second leg is played tomorrow at Grbavica, and the visitors will defend a three-goal advantage (3:0).
