Sarajevo defeated by Velež at Koševo

(Patria) - After defeating Željezničar, the footballers of Mostar's Velež tonight defeated Sarajevo at Koševo with a minimal score of 1-0 in the first leg of the BiH Cup quarter-finals.

The audience at the largest BiH stadium watched a tough and not very eventful match for most of the game, with few real chances.

The decision came in the final minutes, and the hero for Mostar was the 205 cm tall striker Spahić, who scored the only goal of the match.

The beginning of the match passed without major excitement. The home team threatened first, when Agon Elezi shot from an angle on the left side, but Tarik Karić intervened safely.

Shortly after, Besim Šerbečić made a mistake in Velež's defense, but Luka Menalo could not reach the ball before the visiting goalkeeper.

Mostar became more concrete after half an hour of play. In the 31st minute, a nice play was seen on the right side, Spahić backheeled to Vasilije Đurić, but his attempt ended above the crossbar.

Soon, Rođeni combined on the left side as well, but Babić's shot was also not accurate.

The second half did not offer much for a long time. Menalo shot wide in the 59th minute, and then the moment of decision followed.

It was the 70th minute when Mićo Kuzmanović crossed from the right side to the far post, Ivan Banić misjudged the flight of the ball, and Spahić headed the ball into the net for 1-0.

Velež could have confirmed their triumph in the final minutes. In the 87th minute, Babić went one-on-one with Banić, tried to lob him, but was not accurate.

On the other side, Luka Hujber had a good chance to equalize, but the score did not change.

The return leg is scheduled for two weeks in Vrapčići, where Velež will defend a minimal, but valuable, lead.
