Sarajevo: Start of the European Grand Prix in Taekwondo Marked by Competitors from Serbia

(Patria) - The European Grand Prix in taekwondo began today in Sarajevo.

The Taekwondo Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has for the first time received the technical organization of such a competition, which will also host it in the next two years.

Despite the packed competition calendar, the best taekwondo athletes from all over Europe arrived in the capital of our country.

From the early morning hours, the best cadets of the Old Continent and their coaches filled Arena Hills with extraordinary energy, and all taekwondo and martial arts enthusiasts could fully enjoy the brilliant moves and atmosphere.

- Sarajevo will be the center of European taekwondo in the coming days, and we are proud to host athletes of such caliber.

Our goal is to provide the best possible conditions for the competitors and everyone who comes to the hall - said the president of the Taekwondo Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Samir Šarić.

He emphasizes that this is the first edition of the European Grand Prix where cash prizes are secured for cadets and juniors.

On the first competition day of the European Grand Prix, Serbian taekwondo athletes dominated, winning as many as six gold medals, while Bulgarian athletes took three silver medals.

The ceremonial opening of the event is planned for tomorrow at 1:00 PM, while the preliminary competitions in a total of ten categories will start at 9:00 AM.

On Friday, a meeting of the Administrative Board of the European Taekwondo Union (ETU) will be held in Ilidža, and the head of the ETU, Sakis Pragalos, arrived in Sarajevo yesterday.
