Sarajevo wins BiH Cup for the eighth time!

(Patria) - Sarajevo footballers won the Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the 2024/25 season tonight.

The Maroon team celebrated against Široki Brijeg in two final matches with an aggregate score of 5:1, writes Faktor.

After celebrating a high 4:0 victory at Košev last Wednesday, Sarajevo confirmed their eighth trophy in BiH's most popular football competition tonight with a 1:1 draw at Pecara.

By winning the Cup, Sarajevo has secured a spot in Europe for the fourth-placed team in the BiH Premier League.

Currently, that team is Željezničar, which the fifth-placed Sloga cannot catch, but the Blues can still reach third place, as Sarajevo has only a one-point advantage.

Široki Brijeg attacked in the first half, and in the 14th minute, the Sarajevo goalkeeper's net was shaken when Mato Stanić scored.

However, referee Ermin Sivac, after reviewing VAR, disallowed the goal and ruled a foul for the visitors at the start of the action.

Rogić saved the visitors with several brilliant interventions, while Jatta, Bubanja, and Kuprešak threatened on the other side.

In the 75th minute, the home team hit the post through Jukić, and in the very next attack, the penalty came when Lulić beat Josipović.

Mato Stanić scored the goal for the final 1:1 in the 89th minute.

Before the match, the BiH anthem was played, which was not respected at Pecara.

Home fans first whistled and then sang their own song, due to which the national anthem was practically inaudible during the TV broadcast.

As could be seen in the TV broadcast, only three individuals in the center of the field had their hands on their hearts. Amar Beganović and Nermin Mujkić from Sarajevo, and referee Ermin Sivac.

Officials from the Football Association of BiH were also in the stands of the Pecara stadium. President Vico Zeljković, Vice Presidents Ivan Beus and Irfan Durić, Muris Jabandžić, President of the Football Association of FBiH, and some other current and former members of the BiH FA Executive Board.

It was the leaders of BiH football who presented the trophies and medals to the finalists.
