Sarajevo to host the final qualification cycle for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

(Patria) - The Table Tennis Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the host and organizer of the final qualification cycle for the Olympic Games, which are being held in Paris this year.

Starting Wednesday, May 15, 2024, the last round of world Olympic qualifications for placement in France will be held at the Hills Hotel in Ilidža.

The organization of this major competition has been entrusted to the Table Tennis Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is already working diligently on the final details related to this major world competition where the last spots in table tennis for the Olympic Games in Paris will be awarded.

After the final entries from around the world are completed, more than 200 competitors from 30 countries worldwide will come to the capital of our country.

“It is important to note that the highest-ranked players, even those ranked among the top 50 in the world rankings, are coming to Sarajevo. They have not yet qualified with their national teams and will seek their last chance for Paris right here in Sarajevo, in Ilidža,” said Anes Alić, director of the BH team.

Over the five days of the Olympic qualifications at the Hills Hotel, the Table Tennis Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will award a total of five invitations in the women's competition and five final 'visas' in the men's competition.

Both the men's and women's national teams of Bosnia and Herzegovina will compete in the final qualifications in Ilidža, each with two representatives.

“For our men's national team, Benjamin Zijadić and Nikola Mihailović will compete, led by coach Vladimir Ivanković. In the women's competition, Emina Cerić and Harisa Mešetović will seek their chances for placement in Paris, led by coach Emina Hadžiahmetović,” confirmed Amela Mujezinović, Secretary General of the Table Tennis Federation of BiH.

The qualifications in Ilidža will last until Sunday, May 19, which is the final day of this competition and when all 10 remaining participants in table tennis for the Olympic Games in Paris will be known.

More details about this major competition will be known on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, when a press conference will be organized, attended by the leaders of the Table Tennis Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and high-ranking officials from the City of Sarajevo, which has supported the organization.
