Sainz leaves Ferrari and moves to Williams

(Patria) - Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr. (29) is leaving Ferrari at the end of this season and will drive for Williams for the next two years, the British Formula 1 team announced.

After Ferrari announced in February that they had signed seven-time world champion, Briton Lewis Hamilton, it was clear that Sainz would have to look for another team.

- I am happy to be driving for Williams from 2025. It is no secret that the driver market was complicated this year for various reasons and it took some time for me to make a decision - said the 29-year-old Spaniard, who has been driving for Ferrari since 2021.

It was speculated that Sainz could replace Hamilton at Mercedes, but also continue his career at Sauber or Alpine.

Sainz has achieved three victories during his career, and has been among the top three fastest 23 times. He also drove for Toro Rosso, Renault, and McLaren.
