Safet Nadarević: I was fired because I am Spahić's man!

(Patria) - The new selection of members of the expert teams of youth national teams has once again confirmed what Emir Spahić had previously warned about.

Even after a year in office, the BiH FA decided to change the expert staffs of all selections, without coordination with the director of BiH national teams, Emir Spahić. This confirmed Spahić's earlier dire predictions that there is no strategic plan for the development of youth national teams, nor a real awareness that they are the foundation of the future 'A' team.

Since it was decided that Emir Spahić would no longer "have a say", the coaches appointed last year "while he had a say" were also removed.

One of them is Safet Nadarević, a former national team player, a fighter without compromise, a man whose name for years was synonymous with loyalty to the Dragons jersey. However, instead of gratitude and respect for his work in the youth sector, he was met with silence. There was no call, no email, no explanation. Just a cold message – you are no longer here.

"I was fired mostly because I am a 'Spahić's man', because he brought me in, and I will always be his man, until death. Do you think there is another reason?", Nadarević asks indignantly in an interview for the Reprezentacija.ba portal.

"In the 13 games we managed, we achieved nine wins, two draws, and two losses – and that against Portugal, which became the European champion. In some games, we couldn't count on as many as seven or eight players, and yet we looked like a team, like a family. Clearly, someone was bothered by that. All of this is directed against Spahić", he adds.

Nadarević particularly emphasizes the unprofessional attitude of the Football Association towards former national team players, who selflessly invested their knowledge and time in the development of young players.

"I wouldn't want anyone to misunderstand me. Thank God, I am financially somewhat secure and I was never there for the money. I don't need that. But what hurts is the humiliating attitude. They didn't even pay our travel expenses or daily allowances. No one even bothered to send a simple email and thank us for the cooperation. Our coach just told us that Damjan Ratković and I are no longer here. Everything was aimed at 'cleaning out' Spahić's people. And I remain his."
