Handball Dragons Host Iceland in Skenderija Tonight

(Patria) - The BiH handball team will play a match against Iceland tonight in Sarajevo's Skenderija, as part of the 5th round of qualifications for the European Championship.

The BiH team needs victories in the last two qualifying matches to advance to the European Championship.

BiH coach Damir Doborac will not be able to count on the injured Marko Panić, Benjamin Burić, and Marko Majstorović for these matches.

BiH handball player Senjamin Burić believes that Iceland, despite being first in the group, will come to Sarajevo fully motivated to achieve another victory, but notes that the BiH handball players are also prepared for such an approach to the match.

- Every professional wants to win when they come to a match, so I expect that from Iceland as well. Let them come 100 percent prepared, and we will raise our preparation to 110 percent. I expect a tough, strong, and good tactical game from both sides.

Our chance is to stop their transition, because they play a really fast, modern handball - stated Burić, adding that the BiH team plays best when everyone counts them out.

Mislav Grgić emphasizes that Iceland is one of the best national teams in the world, with world-class players.

- However, we are playing at home and I think we have our chances. We need to stop their one-on-one play, where they are the best in the world, and in a six-on-six game, we certainly have our chances.

We must forget the losses to Georgia; the situation is difficult, but we move on - said Grgić, stating that the pressure players feel before such matches is good because it forces them to play better.

Domagoj Alilović also addressed the media, believing that the match against Iceland is the most important in these qualifications, and that only maximum sacrifice can bring victory to the BiH team.

- It is certainly one of the most important matches, one of the toughest. We all know what kind of team they are. They have the best European players who play good transition and one-on-one play.

It will be difficult to stop them, but I believe that in front of a full hall, we can achieve it. We will give 150 percent of ourselves, and that is the only way - stated Alilović.

He added that the BiH team will miss the injured players due to their great experience in playing such matches.

Milan Vukšić also hopes for a victory against Iceland, which would keep BiH's chances of qualifying for the European Championship alive.

- We have to play a perfect game. Some things have to fall into place, and we have to play at a high level, follow the tasks set by the coach, and I think that's the only way we have a chance against Iceland - said Vukšić.

The BiH - Iceland match will be played tonight at 8:00 PM in Sarajevo's Skenderija, and four days later, the Dragons will visit Greece.

After four rounds, the BiH team is third in the group with one win and three losses, the same as last-placed Greece. Iceland is first with a perfect record, and Georgia is second with two wins and two losses.

The top two teams from each of the eight qualifying groups, as well as the four best third-placed teams, will qualify for the Euro.
