Handball Dragons to learn Euro 2028 qualifying opponents on Thursday

(Patria) - After securing a spot in the World Championship playoffs where they will play against the Faroe Islands, the best BiH handball players will on Thursday learn the names of their opponents in the qualifiers for the 2028 European Championship.

The draw will take place in Lisbon starting at 7:00 PM, and the handball national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina expects it from the third pot, based on their ranking on the European Handball Federation (EHF) list.

The 2028 European Championship will be held from January 13 to 30, and four participants of the final tournament are already known - current champion Denmark and the three hosts Spain, Portugal, and Switzerland.

32 national teams divided into eight groups will participate in the qualifiers. The top two teams from each group, as well as the four best third-placed teams from the eight groups, will qualify for EHF Euro 2028.

The qualifiers begin in November this year, with further dates in March and May 2027.

First pot: Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden;

Second pot: Austria, Czech Republic, Faroe Islands, Italy, North Macedonia, Netherlands, Poland, Serbia;

Third pot: Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Montenegro, Romania, Ukraine;

Fourth pot: Estonia, Finland, Israel, Kosovo, Latvia, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Turkey.
