(Patria) - Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud won the title at the tournament in Barcelona today, after defeating the world number seven, Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, in two sets, 7:5, 6:3.
The world number six won after one hour and 31 minutes and secured his first ATP title of the season.
Ruud broke in the first game of the first set and soon led 3:1, but Tsitsipas broke back in the sixth game to level at 3:3. After that, the players held serve until the 12th game, when Ruud broke Tsitsipas again to take the lead in the match.
In the fourth game of the second set, Ruud broke, maintained that advantage until the end, and won his first title at an ATP 500 series tournament.
Ruud has 29 wins this season, the most of any player this year.
He "avenged" his loss to Tsitsipas from last week's Masters final in Monte Carlo, and today he won his 11th ATP title.
The Greek tennis player ended a ten-match winning streak.
