Real Madrid are world champions: The Kings thrashed Pachuca in the final

(Patria) - Real Madrid footballers won the inaugural edition of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup tonight, defeating Mexico's Pachuca convincingly 3-0 in the final.

The current European champions dominated throughout the entire match in Qatar's Lusail and deservedly secured a new trophy.

The first goal was scored in the 37th minute after a brilliant play. Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga exchanged a one-two pass, and then Valverde played Jude Bellingham in the space between.

The English midfielder assisted Vinicius Junior, who elegantly evaded the goalkeeper and set up Kylian Mbappé for an easy close-range finish.

Rodrygo extended the lead in the 53rd minute with a fantastic solo run and a precise shot from the edge of the penalty area.

The final score of 3-0 was sealed by Vinicius from a penalty in the 84th minute.

Luka Modrić, captain of the Croatian national team, entered the game in the 70th minute. Modrić, who became Real's captain this summer after Nacho Fernandez's departure, has already won the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta this season.

And tonight, he added the Intercontinental Cup to his impressive collection. This is his 28th trophy in a Real Madrid jersey, making him the most decorated player in the club's history.

The tournament featured the winners of continental competitions: Real (Europe), Pachuca (North and Central America), Al Ahly (Africa), Botafogo (South America), Al-Ain (Asia), and Auckland City (Oceania).

The Intercontinental Cup was organized as an alternative to FIFA's Club World Cup, providing an opportunity for the world's best clubs to compete.
