Real Madrid 15th time European champions! (VIDEO)

(Patria) - Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League tonight.

The Royals defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final, played before 86,212 spectators at Wembley Stadium in London, thus securing their 15th title of the Old Continent champions.

Goals for the Spanish team were scored by Dani Carvajal in the 74th minute, following a corner kick from Toni Kroos, and Vinicius Junior in the 83rd minute.

Croatian national team captain Luka Modrić played for the Royals from the 85th minute, winning his sixth Champions League title.

Six trophies of the European Cup/Champions League winners also belong to Modrić's teammates Dani Carvajal, Nacho, and Toni Kroos, as well as Real legend Francisco Gento.

Let us also add that Modrić and Nacho Fernandez have reached 26 trophies in Real's jersey, becoming the most decorated players in the 122-year history of Real Madrid.

For the royal club, this was the 18th final in the most prestigious competition of the Old Continent, and the 15th time they lift the trophy intended for the best.

In second place on the list of winners is Italian AC Milan with seven European titles, while Bayern and Liverpool have lifted the trophy six times each.

On the other hand, Borussia Dortmund played their third final, suffering their second defeat, again at Wembley, after losing to Bayern in 2013 at the English "temple of football."

The only title for the team from Westfalenstadion was won in 1997.
