The visitors took the lead practically from their first threat. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia broke down the left flank, played a return pass, and Ousmane Dembele beat the English team's goalkeeper with a precise shot.
That was also the result at halftime.
In the second half, Merino scored in the second minute, delighting the home fans. However, after a VAR review, Arsenal's goal was disallowed.
In the 84th and 85th minutes, Barloca and Ramos could have finished off the Gunners. The former was not precise in a one-on-one situation with Rayo, and the latter hit the crossbar.
The second leg in Paris will be played on May 7. Tomorrow, Barcelona and Inter will face each other in the other semi-final.
