World's number one player eliminated in the second round of Roland Garros

(Patria) - World's number one player, Italian Jannik Sinner, will not win Roland Garros this year either, the only Grand Slam tournament still missing from his career.

Sinner was defeated today in the second round of the tournament in Paris by Argentinian Juan Manuel Cerundolo, after leading 2-0 in sets and 5-1 in the third.

The Italian breezed through the first two sets, winning them 6-3 and 6-2, and easily reached 5-1 in the third when his physical problems began.

Cerundolo won 15 consecutive points to reach 5-4 and 0-40 on Sinner's serve when the Italian requested medical assistance.

He complained of nausea and left the court, but when he returned, Cerundolo continued his streak of games and won the third set 7-5.

Another ten-minute break followed, during which Sinner left the court again, but even that did not help him recover.

Although he did not retire from the match, it was clear that the Italian was not feeling well, so the Argentinian won the fourth and fifth sets 6-1 each.

Sinner arrived at Roland Garros this year with a streak of 29 wins, and he rounded that streak up to 30 after the first round.

In total, he had a record of 37-2 this year before his collapse when he was a game away from advancing to the 3rd round.

Last year, he had three match points in the Roland Garros final against Carlos Alcaraz, but the Spaniard eventually won 3-2.
