Check Your Wallets: These Banknotes Will Soon Be Worthless

(Patria) - The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBiH) reminded citizens of the deadlines in the process of exchanging convertible mark banknotes in denominations of 10, 20, 50, and 100 KM, which were put into circulation in the period from 1998 to 2009, and ceased to be legal tender on December 31, 2024.

The exchange of these banknotes in 2025 will be carried out exclusively in commercial banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina, until December 31, 2025. The Central Bank calls on citizens to exchange them in commercial banks in a timely manner, as they have a wide network of branches across the country.

After this deadline, the exchange will be carried out exclusively by the Central Bank of BiH, in Sarajevo (Maršala Tita 25) and Banja Luka (Vidovdanska 19), from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2035. The CBBiH will adopt a special act by the end of this year that will precisely regulate the procedure for exchanging banknotes at the Central Bank, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner.

Detailed information about the banknotes withdrawn from circulation, as well as the exchange procedure, is available on the official website of the CBBiH – www.cbbh.ba, in the section Money/KM Banknotes Withdrawn from Circulation.
