Elvedin Begić, former BiH FA President, passes away

(Patria) - Elvedin Begić, former President of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the directors of Sarajevo International Airport, passed away in Sarajevo due to illness.

He was born on 24.10.1960 in Sarajevo. He graduated from the Faculty of Transport in Sarajevo, and has been employed at Sarajevo Airport since 1983.

Since 1979, he has been actively involved in the work of FK „Butmir“, where he served as president from 1996 to 2004, and is currently a member of the club's management.

As a sports official, he was a delegate in the KSFA Assembly, a member of the KSFA Presidency, and a member of the NS/FS BiH Security and Stadiums Committee. On 17.9.2012, he was elected president of KSFA. On 18.4.2011, he was appointed a member of the Normalization Committee of the NS/FS BiH, a body constituted by FIFA.

He served as the first vice-president of the UEFA Committee for Stadiums and Security.

He was elected President of the NS/FS BiH, with a four-year mandate, at the NS/FS BiH Assembly held on 13.12.2012.

On December 22, 2016, the NS/FS BiH Assembly re-elected him as President of the Association for the period from 2016 to 2020.

Former player and now member of the coaching staff of the A national team, Emir Spahić, also bid farewell to Begić.
