Candidate for judge of the Constitutional Court of BiH Marin Vukoja was on one of the HDZ BiH lists for the House of Peoples of the BiH PA in 2019. Vukoja was on the list led by the president of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović. Čović himself was elected to the House of Peoples in 2019. Borjana Krišto, Renata Paškalj, and Danijel Nikolić were also on the same list.
And while Čović claims Vukoja is not a party member, it is undeniable that he is connected to HDZ, as he was on the list for the House of Peoples of the BiH PA in 2019.
In 2014, Vukoja was a lecturer at the HDZ Political Academy along with Robert Vidović. Vukoja lectured on the topic of „The Work of Electoral Boards“ and „Aspects of Electoral Legislation“. At that time, he was the secretary of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA. Before the General Elections in 2010, Vukoja also held a lecture at the Political Academy on the topic of „Constitutional and Legal Order of BiH“, in his capacity as secretary of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA.
His strong support from the president of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović was also evident in recent statements regarding the election of a constitutional judge. Čović stated that he expects Vukoja to be appointed as a constitutional judge, and that such an agreement has been reached with representatives of the international community.
He said that Vukoja would replace Mate Tadić in the Constitutional Court of BiH, who was a Croat, and that such a balance of power should be maintained.
"Full support for Vukoja, and he is not a party member nor has he ever presented himself as a party member. You see who makes up the Bosniak judges in the Constitutional Court. They are the vice-presidents of SDA. We have avoided that. If someone says that the court will be given to HDZ or Čović, I have answered that we have had two representatives of Croats in that court until now," Čović said last week.
Marin Vukoja's biography does not include a single day of work experience in the judiciary or judicial institutions, and if he is elected to the Constitutional Court of BiH, he should decide on the most complex issues and compliance with the BiH Constitution.
