Fire near Jablanica still active: Flames engulf 14 hectares of pine forest

(Patria) – The forest fire in the area of Pisvir near Jablanica remains active, with intensive firefighting efforts continuing on Saturday, the Federal Civil Protection Administration has announced.

The flames have engulfed approximately 14 hectares of land, mostly pine forest, while firefighting is further hampered by inaccessible terrain with steep cliffs.

Firefighting efforts involve members of the Jablanica Professional Fire Brigade, volunteer fire departments, as well as a helicopter from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The helicopter intervened twice on Saturday – from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., making around 20 runs to the fire site.

According to information from the Jablanica Civil Protection Operations Center, the fire is still active but currently does not threaten the local population or residential buildings in the settlement of Slatina, located below the affected area.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation on the ground and take all available measures to bring the fire under control.
