Signed a four-year contract: Dario Gjergja officially the Dragons' coach

(Patria) - Dario Gjergja is officially the head coach of the men's basketball national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina as of today.

The Zadar native signed a four-year contract at the premises of the BiH Basketball Association in Sarajevo, and was first congratulated by the President of the BiH Basketball Association's Management Board, Aid Berbić, and the Association's Secretary General, Dževad Alihodžić.

- First of all, I would like to thank the members of the Management Board for entrusting me with the position of head coach of Bosnia and Herzegovina with their unanimous decision. This is a great honor, but also a responsibility, given the quality the national team possesses.

We are gathering today and starting preparations for the first matches in the World Cup qualifiers. Let's get to work - Gjergja said on this occasion.

The President of the BiH Basketball Association's Management Board, Aid Berbić, emphasized that the arrival of a successful expert marks the beginning of a new era for the Dragons.



- I am very pleased that Dario, as a coach with a modern approach and an impressive collection of trophies, is taking charge of our national team. Even during the negotiations, I was convinced that he is a great professional and a man who lives basketball 24 hours a day.

His knowledge of this magical game under the basket, and therefore of our players with whom he will collaborate in the coming years, is impressive. I believe that together we will write new pages of Bosnian-Herzegovinian basketball history in golden letters - said Berbić.

Dževad Alihodžić also did not spare compliments for the new head of the professional staff of the BiH national team.

- I firmly believe that we have chosen the best candidate. Dario already has extensive experience as a head coach, he has achieved great things at the helm of Belgium, and his club career is best evidenced by his trophies and the fact that he has been the national champion as many as 14 times in a row.

He is known for working with young players and developing top basketball players, which is a necessary quality in the mission he has now taken on as head of the professional staff of our Dragons - added Alihodžić.

Dario Gjergja will also address the media this afternoon at a press conference scheduled before the first training session of the BiH national team today.
