(Patria) - UEFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF) due to incidents, including pitch invasion and throwing of objects during Albania's Saturday loss to Italy (1-2) at the Euros in Dortmund.
The European football governing body announced yesterday that it has also initiated proceedings due to the setting off of fireworks by Albanian fans during the Group B match, as well as "conveying a provocative message inappropriate for a sporting event".
UEFA did not provide any further details about the message that was allegedly sent.
An FSHF spokesperson stated in a press release that they plan to submit an official statement to the CEDB within the deadline set by UEFA.
- We want to emphasize that all necessary measures have been taken for the successful organization of the match. The event was a celebration of European football, and no major incident occurred that would disrupt the positive atmosphere - added the Albanian spokesperson.
