Support for Palestine from Podgorica: Government of Montenegro asked to impose sanctions on Israel

(Patria) - A March of Peace and a "Montenegro for Palestine" rally was held in Podgorica today.

The rally started from Capital Plaza, owned by the Israeli company "BIG CEE".

The participants marched past the US Embassy, where they stopped for a moment, chanting "Free Palestine" and "Stop genocide".

The rally was organized by the Movement for Solidarity with Palestine. From the rally, attended by several hundred citizens, a message was sent to the Government of Montenegro to impose sanctions on Israel and stop purchasing weapons from that country.

Petar Knežević from the Movement for Solidarity with Palestine stated that the Government and Parliament of Montenegro should take concrete steps.

- We call on the Parliament of Montenegro to adopt a resolution on Israel's genocide against Palestine as soon as possible. Also, we call on the Government to impose sanctions on Israel and stop purchasing weapons from this country - said Knežević.

Civil activist Elvis Beriša emphasized that things should be called by their real name.

- Genocide is currently being committed against the people of Palestine - said Beriša.

Poet Lejla Kašić called on politicians to show more sensitivity towards Palestine.

- Gaza is bleeding right now - stated Kašić.

The rally ended in front of the Parliament of Montenegro. It proceeded peacefully and was secured by a large number of police officers.
