(Patria) - The preparations of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team for the first two World Cup qualifying matches against Romania and Cyprus will begin today with a gathering in Sarajevo.
BiH footballers will train at the FK Sarajevo Training Camp in Butmir until Thursday, when the trip to Romania is planned.
Coach Sergej Barbarez has 23 players, but expects to have the full squad available only on Wednesday, when two closed training sessions are planned.
"Certainly, we are both excited and eager for matches, eager for camaraderie, for work, and we certainly have our plans and goals, regardless of what the group is called. We have done a lot in these 3-4 months. You know yourselves that all matches are individual, and they develop the plan, strategy, and vision. Certainly, our goal is to raise our expectations to a higher level, both in terms of results and in terms of play. We want to continue building the team, we will pay attention to the players' rhythm and their position in their clubs. We have seen what we have at our disposal in the six matches we have played, who we can rely on more, who less. Someone might be dissatisfied with their treatment at their club, but the national team is a different story, it's a story of pride and willingness. It is important for the players to come with a smile, to be eager for matches," said Barbarez.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina footballers begin their qualifiers on Friday with a match against Romania in Bucharest, while three days later they will host the Cyprus team in Zenica.
