(Patria) - Symbolically - at 7:21 PM (Željezničar was founded in 1921), the cornerstone was laid for the construction of the south stand of the Grbavica stadium.
The cornerstone was laid by the Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton Kenan Magoda, the Mayor of Novo Sarajevo Municipality Benjamina Karić, and a member of the FK Željezničar Management Board Jusuf Tanović, writes Faktor.
- This will not be the end of projects at Grbavica. We are moving on to more projects. This will be the most beautiful stadium in Sarajevo Canton, which it deserves. Perhaps we are not even aware of what Željezničar means for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Every player who has played for Željezničar in their CV - everyone knows about our Željo. That is why this is a special day. This morning when I woke up, I thought it was a dream - said Magoda.
Mayor Benjamina Karić also did not hide her satisfaction.
- Today, great news from our Željo's stadium, from Grbavica. Laying the cornerstone and the official start of the construction of the south stand. The deadline for completion is 200 calendar days, and 4.7 million KM has been invested - said Karić.
The south stand of the Grbavica stadium will be named Dževad Begić Đildo, after the leader of Manijaci, Željo's most fervent fans, who was killed on July 11, 1992, in the Pofalići neighborhood of Sarajevo.
