
(Patria) - Founder and coach of Swimming Club SPID Amel Kapo summed up 2024 in terms of competitions and successes of the club's swimmers. As he pointed out, since the club's existence, it was the most successful year so far.
"We participated in para-swimming competitions in Split, Zadar, Zagreb, Rijeka, Velenje, Novi Sad, Podgorica, Belgrade, Lignano, Berlin, Madeira, Paris and Sarajevo. We swam in Mostar and Sarajevo with typical swimmers. We participated in the European Para Swimming Championships Madeira, Portugal 2024 and won a GOLD medal. We competed in the World Series in Lignano, Italy and Berlin, Germany where we broke the EUROPEAN RECORD that was 22 years old. We competed at the Paralympic Games in Paris and won a historic medal for our country. We became one of the youngest medal winners at the Paralympic Games in their history," Kapo stated.
We remind you, the first medal was won by para-swimmer Ismail Barlov.
Spider swimmers achieved the norm for the World Championships in Singapore in 2025.
In 18 para-swimming competitions, they won 263 medals, and 24 medals for typical swimmers in four competitions and four cups.
As Kapo stated, 16 projects were realized, 10 domestic and 6 international.
Spid is also the recipient of the state award for sports, and we should not forget the inclusive ski school.
The film Butterflies Without Wings dedicated to the successes of Ismail Zulfić and Ismail Barlov was filmed and shown.
Swimming Club SPID was founded in 2015, and today coach Kapo has a large array of swimmers and para-swimmers behind him who are achieving successes.
