Pentagon releases list of military equipment being sent to Ukraine

(Patria) - After the US Senate approved, and President Joe Biden signed the law on the aid package to Ukraine, worth more than 60 billion dollars, Russia threatened to intensify attacks.

Russian forces in the east of the country continue to advance, while Ukrainians, until the much-needed aid from the West arrives, are trying to stabilize the front line.

The Pentagon, meanwhile, has announced what military aid it is sending to Kyiv.

"Today, following the enactment of the national security act that the President just signed into law, the Department of Defense announced significant new security assistance to urgently meet Ukraine’s critical security and defense needs.

This is the 56th tranche of equipment from the Biden Administration to be delivered to Ukraine from DoD stocks since 2021.

This package has an estimated value of $1 billion and includes capabilities to support Ukraine’s most pressing requirements, including air defense missiles, artillery munitions, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons," the statement said, HRT reports.

The aid package includes: RIM-7 and AIM-9M missiles for air defense, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, infantry weapons and additional small arms ammunition, including 12.7 mm rounds for counter-drone operations, additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), 155 mm artillery munitions, including high-explosive and dual-purpose improved conventional munitions, 105 mm artillery shells, 60 mm mortar rounds.

The package also includes additional Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, MRAP vehicles, High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV), logistics support vehicles, tactical vehicles for towing and equipment transport, Tube-Launched, Optically Tracked, Wire-Guided (TOW) missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems, precision aerial munitions, airfield support equipment, anti-tank mines, claymore anti-personnel mines, obstacle breaching munitions, and night vision devices and spare parts, field equipment, training ammunition, maintenance and other support equipment.

This package will send ammunition, weapons, and equipment to support Ukraine’s ability to defend its front lines, protect its cities, and counter Russia’s continued attacks.

With bipartisan support from Congress, Ukraine can count on strong and decisive U.S. leadership to provide consistent security assistance – alongside some 50 allies and partners – to ensure its brave defenders receive the critical capabilities needed to fight Russian aggression, the Pentagon statement added.
