ChatGPT Down: Millions of Users Lose Access

(Patria) - The OpenAI website, the popular artificial intelligence service ChatGPT, has gone down.

Users of the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT faced a service interruption on Thursday, and thousands of users have reported problems accessing the service. According to Downdetector, problems began around 4:50 PM, and by 5:18 PM, over 3,700 users had lost access.

"ChatGPT appears to be down right now," one user wrote on X, sharing a screenshot from Downdetector.

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, acknowledged the problem around 5:30 PM, stating, "We are currently experiencing elevated error rates on the API. We are investigating the issue." The cause of the outage is still unknown.

This global outage comes just a day after the announcement of the ambitious $500 billion Stargate project, a joint venture between OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank, at the White House. The project aims to secure American leadership in AI, create hundreds of thousands of jobs, and generate enormous economic benefits globally.
