(Patria) - The match between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Israel, which was supposed to be played at the Grbavica stadium on Tuesday, March 26, has been cancelled.
Both teams were eliminated in the semi-finals of the European Championship play-offs, and after defeats against Ukraine and Iceland, the news of the match cancellation arrived.
The President of the Football Association of Israel, Shino Zoertz, stated in an interview with local media that one of the reasons for cancelling the match was the tense situation.
"Due to the tense situation, UEFA contacted me as soon as the matches ended and asked if we could withdraw from the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is insignificant for both teams. I am sure that the FA of BiH would have done everything for good hosting, but under the current circumstances, I have approved the cancellation of the match," said Zoertz, reports Faktor.
Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered a defeat against Ukraine last night at Bilino Polje, thus missing out on qualifying for the European Championship.
