Super-G in Zauchensee cancelled, Elvedina Muzaferija to race in FIS Europa Cup on Wednesday

(Patria) - Heavy snowfall and strong winds are the reasons why organizers in the Austrian resort of Zauchensee cancelled today's Audi FIS World Cup Super-G race for women. The competition, in which Bosnia and Herzegovina's most successful skier Elvedina Muzaferija was supposed to compete with bib number 23, was scheduled for 12 PM, and a decision on rescheduling this race has not yet been made.

We remind you that an official training session was held in Zauchensee on Thursday, while the second one, scheduled for Friday, was cancelled due to precipitation. Yesterday's downhill race was marked by a shortened course and significantly different conditions on the track for competitors with higher bib numbers. The snow in the lower sections slowed down Elvedina Muzaferija, who, after a great start and a very good run, finished in 32nd place.

The BiH team is travelling to Pass Thurn (Austria) today, where FIS Europa Cup races will be held from January 12th to 15th.

"We cannot influence force majeure, so we are quickly changing plans. On Monday and Tuesday, I will race official Europa Cup training sessions, and on Wednesday, the downhill race. It is possible that I will compete in the Europa Cup on Thursday, but we will see about that, the priority is the FIS World Cup which continues on Saturday in Italy," says Muzaferija.

Elvedina Muzaferija, the best Bosnian and Herzegovinian alpine skier, is the only BiH skier who has achieved victories in the Europa Cup – in the downhill discipline in 2024 and in the Super-G discipline in 2025.
