Okerić announces KS Assembly and election of new Minister of Higher Education for October 14, states salaries and bonuses are not in question

(Patria) - The next regular session of the KS Assembly should be held on October 14, announced the Speaker of the KS Assembly Elvedin Okerić as a guest on TVSA on Tuesday evening.

He confirmed that the Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth Adna Mesihović (ZNG) submitted a request for dismissal to the Election and Appointment Commission, as she wishes to take over the mandate of a deputy in the KS Assembly, which was awarded to her by the Central Election Commission after Damir Marjanović, founder of ZNG, withdrew from the KS Assembly. Mesihović was arrested in April and is under investigation for abuse of position related to illegal employment in the Ministry.

At the same session, a new minister of higher education will be appointed, and according to Patria's information, it is a person from the University of Sarajevo. Some other items proposed by the KS Government should also be on the agenda of the same session.

The Ministry of Higher Education has been managed by the KS Minister of Economy Zlatko Mijatović (NIP) since the end of July, and from April to July, the acting minister was the Minister of Justice and Administration Darja Softić-Kadenić (NS).

Speaking about the budget of Sarajevo Canton, and since austerity measures were introduced on August 4, Okerić emphasized that all ministers in the KS Government were tasked with analyzing projects and deciding which ones could be realized by the end of this year and reallocating funds. He confirmed that the payment of bonuses and salaries will not be in question, nor will maternity benefits and subsidies for various categories.

When asked why the 19th working session, the last continuation of which was held in February, has not resumed, Okerić explained that the reports presented at the session caused different opinions among coalition partners.

The continuation of this session should take place soon, and the voting on the reports of public enterprises and institutions in KS for 2023 remains.
