18th International April 6th Shooting Tournament Held: Notable Results for Zakira Pušina and Farah Onešćuk

(Patria) - On the occasion of Sarajevo City Day, the 18th International April 6th Tournament in air weapon shooting was held last weekend at the Zetra Shooting Range, organized by the Sarajevo Shooting Club.

More than 150 competitors from 12 countries participated with around 300 appearances, and the tournament was officially opened by Mayor Samir Avdić, who praised the traditionally excellent organization of this event.

The tournament is on the competition calendars of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) and the European Shooting Confederation.

The organization of the tournament was supported by the City of Sarajevo, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton, BH Telecom, Telemach BH, JP BH Pošta, and the friends of the tournament were the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, KJP ZOI'84, and Grafika Šaran.



On the first day of competition, shooting took place in individual and team categories.

In the senior air pistol discipline, the first place, with a lead of only two points, was won by representatives of Moldova CSAN ahead of the host team SK Sarajevo with 1,676 points hit. Third place went to the national team of Montenegro, which hit 1,670 points.

In the individual competition, first place also went to Moldova. Nikita Popusoi hit 574 points and celebrated convincingly. Second place was won by Boris Filipovac (SK Sarajevo) with 569 points, and third by Boris Gramnjak from Croatia with 568 points.

Among juniors, first place was won by Nichita Popusoi, second by Slovenian Andrej Škrabec (SD Škofja Loka), and third by Husjen Kofrc (SK Sarajevo).

In the senior women's team competition in air pistol shooting, the team SK TRB from Bijeljina convincingly won first place with 1,639 points ahead of the representatives of Montenegro who had 1,624 points. Third place went to the competitors of SK Visoko with 1,596 points.

In the senior women's individual competition in air pistol, the Slovenian national team representative Anja Prezelj convincingly won first place, hitting a solid 573 points. Second place went to Montenegrin national team representative Nevena Šaranović with 565 points, and third was Sofija Rakić from SK TBR with 558 points.

Among junior women, first place went to Sofija Rakić, second was Moldovan Ana Marian, and third was Macedonian Biljana Karađorđeva.

In the senior women's air rifle category, the winner was not known until the last shot fired. Nevertheless, by only 0.8 points, the best was the national team of Montenegro with 1,855.7 points hit, while the competitors of SK Sarajevo had 1,854.9 points and won second place. Third were the competitors of SD I Pohorski bataljon Ruše, Slovenia with 1,850.6 points.



Individually - first was Zakira Pušina with 629.8 points, second was Croatian national team representative Tea Ilijević with 629.0 points, and third was Farah Onešćuk of SK Sarajevo with 628.3 points.

Among junior women, the best was Zakira Pušina, second Farah Onešćuk, and third Marijana Mijatović of SK Tešanj.

In the senior men's team competition in rifle, first place went to the Slovenian competitors of SD I Pohorski bataljon Ruše with 1,865.9 points, and by only 2.2 points they celebrated ahead of the host team SK Sarajevo. Third place also went to the Slovenian team SD Trzin, which had 1,858.7 points.

In the individual competition, the winner was not known until the end - decimals decided. The winner was competitor of SD I Pohorski bataljon Ruše, Florjan Klemenčič, with 624.7 ahead of club colleague Galu Potrču who had 624.3 points. Third place went to local competitor Benjamin Fazlija who had 624.0 points. The same competitors won medals in the junior competition.

On the second day of the 18th International April 6th Tournament, shooting with air weapons was held for senior women and men in individual competition, with the organization of final shootings according to ISSF rules.

Our best competitor Farah Onešćuk shone and in a very exciting final celebrated ahead of Tea Ilijević. Farah Onešćuk hit 250.2 points, and Tea Ilijević only 0.7 points less. Third was Zakira Pušina who had 227.5 points.

In the senior men's rifle category, Florjan Klemenčić again had an excellent performance and celebrated ahead of last year's title defender Luka Lukić of SD Trzin. Klemenčič hit 247.2 points, and Lukić 245.7 points. Third was Nejc Klopčič from SD Trzin with 225.7 points.

In the senior women's air pistol discipline, Anja Prezelj celebrated again ahead of Sofija Rakić. Prezelj had 236.7 points, while Rakić hit 232.3 points. Third was Biljana Karađorđeva from Macedonia.



In the senior men's air pistol category, Nikola Jovičić defended the title won last year with 234.5 points. Second was Alen Hadrović from Montenegro who had 231.4 points. Third place was won by Moldovan national team representative Nikita Popusoi with 209.6 points.

The Sarajevo Shooting Club received numerous congratulations and recognition from representatives of teams and national teams for the excellent organization of the tournament, which was ensured by competitors, coaches, and other club activists.
