(Patria) - Istanbul football giant Fenerbahçe will not withdraw from the Turkish championship.
This was announced by club president Ali Koc at tonight's Assembly, held in front of more than 25,000 fans who gathered at the Fenerbahçe stadium, reports Faktor.
However, this does not mean that Fenerbahçe has abandoned this idea, as Koc said that the decision to withdraw has been postponed for three months, when the General Assembly will be held.
- In all our discussions, the least preferred option was withdrawing from the league. The reason here is neither legal nor sporting. We are taking this option off the table until the General Assembly in three months - said Koc.
Fenerbahçe had been considering withdrawing from the league due to all the injustices they have suffered.
The last straw was the incident on March 17, when at the end of the match against Trabzonspor, home team fans ran onto the field and physically attacked Edin Džeko and his teammates.
