(Patria) - The boxing match between the legendary Mike Tyson and former influencer superstar Jake Paul, which was supposed to take place on July 20 at the Dallas Cowboys stadium, has been postponed due to Iron Mike's health problems.
The new date for the fight will be announced next Friday, June 7.
"I want to thank my fans all over the world for their support and understanding. Unfortunately, I have an ulcer flare-up, and my doctors have advised me to slow down my training for a few weeks to rest and recover.
My body is in better shape than it has been since the 90s and I will be back to full training soon.
Jake Paul, this might have bought you some time, but I will still knock you out and take you out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone's patience, I can't wait to give you a memorable show later this year," the 57-year-old Tyson announced in a statement carried by his publisher and Netflix.

Tyson experienced an ulcer flare-up this week on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, and the boxer felt nausea and dizziness 30 minutes before landing.
"He is grateful to the medical staff who assisted him," Tyson's representative told CNN.
His opponent is satisfied with the postponement because he wants Tyson in optimal condition.
"I fully support postponing the event so Tyson has no excuses on fight night. My fans know I don't want to fight Tyson if he's not at his best, but don't worry, when we get in the ring, I'll be ready for a sensational finish and victory. Paul vs. Tyson will be a fight for the history books," said the 27-year-old former YouTuber.
Paul took up boxing in 2018 and has since achieved nine wins (six by knockout), mostly against other celebrities and MMA fighters, with one loss to Tommy Fury, the half-brother of former world champion Tyson Fury.
Tyson (50-6-2) had his last professional fight in 2005, and returned in 2020 with an exhibition bout against another aging legend, Roy Jones Jr.
