New Dragon Player Says: I Never Changed My Mind, I Would Only Play for BiH

(Patria) – New Bosnia and Herzegovina national team player Ermin Mahmić stated in his first address to domestic media that he never had any doubts about his national team choice, emphasizing that he knew from the beginning he wanted to play for BiH.

Mahmić recently received official approval from FIFA to change his sporting nationality, thus formally acquiring the right to play for the Dragons.

Coach Sergej Barbarez included him in the squad for the upcoming World Cup, and the young footballer does not hide his satisfaction about joining the BiH national team.

Mahmić will make his debut in the national team jersey on Friday at the Stadion Koševo, when Bosnia and Herzegovina plays a friendly match against the Football Federation of North Macedonia.

Speaking about his first impressions in the national team, Mahmić emphasized that he is trying to gain as much experience as possible and help the team achieve its goals.

“This is something completely new for me, I am trying to gain experience, for everything to normalize, and for us to achieve our goals together. Playing for your national team is something huge, having a smile on your face, and that's why you need to give your all,” said Mahmić.

Regarding the process of obtaining the necessary documentation and the call-up for the World Cup, the new BiH national team player says that everything took months, but that the effort paid off in the end.

“Getting the papers took several months. When I heard I was going to the World Cup, it showed that hard work pays off, that I need to keep working, push harder, and that everything will fall into place. For me, there was never any doubt, I knew who I should play for. It was BiH, and I never changed my mind,” Mahmić stated.
