VAR decisions at the Euros in Germany will be explained to players and spectators

(Patria) - A novelty regarding VAR technology will be presented at the upcoming European Championship in Germany.

Namely, after decisions are made with the help of VAR, explanations for each decision will be shown to spectators on television, as well as those in the stadium, reports Index.hr.

- This is something new and I think it's very, very interesting. After the VAR opinion, we want to offer the public a technical explanation.

UEFA's expert will prepare explanations about what happened in controversial situations simultaneously with the VAR review.

For example, the referee awards a penalty for handball after a review. The technical explanation would be: "German number 9 touched the ball with his left hand, which was in an unnatural position above his shoulder and increased the volume of his body" - explains UEFA's head of referees, Roberto Rossetti.

UEFA's goal is to increase transparency in decision-making and eliminate all ambiguities after they are made.

Referees will also be obliged to explain their decisions to team captains, while all other players will be punished with a yellow card for any form of protest to the referee.
