Muzaferija wins points in FIS Europa Cup final despite injury: I wasn't sure if I would start

(Patria) - On the second day of competition in Saalbach, the final Super-G race for women was held, in which Bosnia and Herzegovina's top alpine skier Elvedina Muzaferija also participated. The twenty-six-year-old member of the Ski Club "ZE-2010" started with bib number 34 and finished in 28th place, earning three points. This was only Muzaferija's second race in this discipline in the FIS Europa Cup for the 2025/2026 season, but with the previous 15 points, won by finishing 16th in the Sarntal ski center, she secured 39th position in the overall discipline standings.

"I will definitely remember the finals this year because of the injury I still feel and which doesn't allow me to give my maximum, no matter how much I strive for it. Today, until five minutes before the race, I wasn't even sure if I would start, but I didn't give up either. That's skiing, sport, and steeling oneself for new competitions, and that's victory over obstacles and challenges...", says Muzaferija, who finished 26th in the downhill discipline on the same course yesterday.

In today's race, the best time was achieved by competitors from the FIS World Cup list, home favorite Nadine Fest with 1:19.33 and Switzerland's Stefanie Grob with a 97-hundredths deficit. Germany's Fabiana Dorigo finished in third place. Elvedina Muzaferija achieved her best time in the last, third sector, and her total deficit to the leading Fest was three seconds and 79 hundredths.

A total of 51 skiers from the top list of twelve countries participated in the Super-G competition, of which 47 finished the race, while four did not achieve a ranking. In the final standings of the FIS Europa Cup Super-G discipline, Sara Allemand from Italy had the best season with 349 points, finishing today's race in 19th place.
