Muzaferija after her performance in Garmisch: This result is a good overture for the World Championships

(Patria) - In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, the fifth race of the Super-G discipline of the Audi FIS World Cup was held today, in which the best Bosnian alpine skier Elvedina Muzaferija achieved her best result of the season.

Starting with bib number 29, Muzaferija completed the "Kandahar" course, almost two kilometres long, in a time of 1:17.20 and crossed the finish line in eighteenth place.

She finished the race, just like Nadine Fest, in 22nd position with nine World Cup points.

The 25-year-old from Visoko and the Austrian, one year older, were two seconds and 29 hundredths behind the winner of today's Super-G race, Lara Gut-Behrami (33).

Muzaferija, who has finished in the top 30 of the discipline for the third consecutive race, sees this as a result of persistence and a positive attitude, as well as a good overture for the World Championships, which will be held in Saalbach from 4 to 16 February.

- Twenty-second place is the best result of this season for me, but of course we expect much more and we know the result will come. We remained persistent even after a slightly worse period, so to speak, we stayed positive and continued to fight.

And so that result came today. Of course I am happy and this is just a good start for the period ahead, which is the World Championships in Saalbach, where I will race on 6 and 8 February in the downhill and Super-G disciplines. Cheer for me - said the only Bosnian competitor we will follow under the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Austria.

Muzaferija goes into the FIS World Cup break with 16 points and as the 33rd skier in the Super-G discipline standings.

In today's race in Garmisch, which was briefly delayed due to rain and snow, alongside Gut-Behrami, second-placed Lie Kajsa Vickhoff and Federica Brignone, who took third place, celebrated. Ten competitors failed to finish the race.
