Muzaferija showed good form in today's downhill, will race Super-G tomorrow

(Patria) - The first downhill race of 2026 and the fourth in the new season of the Audi FIS Women's World Cup was held today in the Austrian ski resort of Zauchensee. The victory was achieved by the most experienced competitor in the race, American Lindsey Vonn with a time of 1:06.24, second place was taken by Norway's Vickhoff Kajsa Lie with a lag of 37 hundredths. For third place, another American, Jacqueline Wiles, skied 48 hundredths slower.

Elvedina Muzaferija, the best Bosnian and Herzegovinian alpine skier, started the race very well and with a seven-hundredths lead over the first-placed Vonn in the first sector. However, the remaining three sectors, like all skiers after her, were significantly slowed down by the snow that began to fall and change the conditions for the remaining fifteen skiers. Muzaferija, with start number 45, reached the finish line with a time of 1:07.77 and remained in 32nd position until the end of the race. Although points for the only Bosnian and Herzegovinian representative were narrowly missed, this performance clearly indicates that Muzaferija is in good form. We will watch her new start tomorrow when the Super-G race is scheduled on the same track starting at 12 PM.

Otherwise, today's downhill in Zauchensee was held after one official training session, while the second was canceled due to precipitation that abounded in these areas yesterday. The race will likely go down in FIS World Cup history as one of those held on the shortest course, but according to the organizers' assessment, it was the only way to hold the competition.
