Muzaferija to compete in downhill and Super-G on January 25 and 26

(Patria) - The weekend of speed disciplines in Cortina d’Ampezzo concluded today with the Super-G race of the current FIS World Cup season, held on the "Olympia delle Tofane" slope.

The fastest Bosnian and Herzegovinian alpine skier, and the only participant in the highest tier of alpine skiing competitions, Elvedina Muzaferija, shared the 29th position with Nina Ortlieb and earned two valuable points in this discipline. The Austrian and Muzaferija crossed the finish line with the identical time of 1:24.49, 2.85 hundredths behind Federica Brignone, who won the gold medal today.

The BiH skier earned five points in the Super-G discipline last weekend in St. Anton, while today's performance brought her two points. With seven points in the discipline, she is leaving Italy and turning her attention to the new competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where she will tackle the course on Saturday, January 25, and Sunday, January 26, aiming for a better ranking and points in the downhill and Super-G competitions.

The competition in Cortina d’Ampezzo, in front of the home crowd, will be most remembered by the popular Fede, who was third yesterday, and with new points, she is currently second in the overall discipline standings, behind Lara Gut-Behrami and ahead of Sofia Goggia.

It was the Swiss Gut-Behrami who took silver today, and Corinne Suter won bronze. Goggia finished in seventh place, while Lindsey Vonn was one of the ten competitors who did not manage to finish the race.

A total of 59 skiers from 17 countries participated in today's Super-G competition, ten each from Austria, Italy, and Switzerland, nine from the United States, five from France, Germany, Canada, and the Czech Republic each had two representatives, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, New Zealand, Romania, Iceland, Poland, Kenya, and Australia each had one representative.
