
(Patria) - A joint press conference was held at the premises of the Criminal Police Administration of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia in Zagreb, attended by representatives of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), EUROPOL, and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia.
At the press conference, the operational group codenamed "ZeBRa" was presented, whose primary goal is to fight illegal migration.
The conference was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović, as well as Police Director Nikola Milina, Deputy Director of SIPA Zoran Galić, Director of the Criminal Police Administration of the Republic of Slovenia Damjan Petrič, and Head of Europol's Migrant Smuggling Centre Seweryn Stopa.
Furthermore, as is already known to the public, on 06.02.2024, SIPA police officers, in cooperation with EUROPOL and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia, carried out a joint operational action codenamed "Zip" and "Big Transporter", which resulted in the dismantling of a criminal group engaged in human smuggling from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the territory of the Republic of Croatia.
On that occasion, the smuggling of about 70 citizens of the Republic of Turkey was documented, who were transported hidden in trucks from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Croatia, and further to the countries of the European Union.
The conference participants expressed satisfaction with the achieved results and the good cooperation.
