(Patria) - Velež footballers have convincingly qualified for the final of the Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Mostar team defeated Sloga today in the second leg in Doboj with a convincing 3:0, thus confirming their advancement with an aggregate score of 6:1, writes arenasport.
The team led by Ibro Rahimić will play for the trophy against the winner of the match between Zrinjski and Radnik, which is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
Velež started the match strongly and took the lead in the third minute. After a cross from Milak on the right side, Vasilije Đurić was the tallest in the air and found the net, setting his team on the path to the final.
The visitors continued to control the game and create chances, while Sloga's goalkeeper Filip Erić saved his team from a heavier defeat on several occasions.
However, in one instance, he contributed to Velež's second goal – when clearing the ball, he hit Ivan Šarić, off whom the ball bounced into the net for 2:0.
The third goal came in the 36th minute, when Abdullah found Đurić with a long ball, and he routinely chipped the advancing Erić to make it 3:0.
In the second half, the home team tried to reduce the deficit, but without concrete results.
On the other hand, Velež scored another goal through Mićo Kuzmanović, but it was disallowed for offside at the start of the action.
There were no major excitements until the end of the match, so Velež routinely saw out the game and secured their place in the final.
The Mostar club will thus have the opportunity to win their second BiH Cup trophy in the era of joint competition, after first celebrating in the 2021/22 season, when they were better than Sarajevo in the final after penalties.
