Mbappé saves Real Madrid in the 100th minute, Rayo couldn't hold on

(Patria) - Real Madrid achieved victory against Rayo Vallecano in the small Madrid derby in an extremely dramatic fashion, with the outcome decided only in the very final moments.

The match couldn't have started worse for the "Kings". Already in the 10th minute, Jude Bellingham had to leave the field, grabbing his hamstring and unable to continue the match. Brahim Díaz came on for him, and he soon became one of the key players. Vinícius Júnior gave Real the lead with a masterful goal, using Díaz's assist for 1:0.

The visitors, however, did not give up. In the 49th minute, Jorge de Frutos scored for 1:1, bringing Rayo back into the game. Real then increased the pressure in search of victory, and gained an additional advantage from the 81st minute when Siss was sent off, leaving the visitors with one less player.

Despite this, a goal did not come. Kylian Mbappé hit the crossbar in a one-hundred-percent chance, but the drama culminated in the ninth minute of stoppage time. A penalty was awarded after Mendy missed the ball and caught Díaz. Mbappé was sure from the spot, scoring his 37th goal of the season and securing victory for Real Madrid.
