Bosnian tennis fans got what they wished for: Džumhur schedules match with world number two!

(Patria) - Bosnia's best tennis player Damir Džumhur has advanced to the third round of Roland Garros.

The Sarajevo native defeated Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard 3-1 in sets, i.e. 7-6 (4), 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

There were no breaks in the first set, so the winner was decided by a tie-break. Džumhur handled it excellently, allowing his opponent only four points.

Džumhur continued with excellent play. He broke his opponent's serve in the eighth game, which was enough to close out the set in his favour 6-3.

The fifth game of the third set brought another break for Džumhur, and it seemed everything was over.

However, the Bosnian tennis player got nervous and lost his serve for the first time in the match, so instead of serving for victory, he served to stay in the third set. He failed to do so, and the Frenchman won the set 6-4.

At the start of the fourth set, specifically in the second game, Džumhur suffered a knee injury, prompting a response from the medical team. Fortunately, after a brief period of assistance, he continued the match.

A single break, the one from the seventh game, was enough for him to close out the fourth set 6-4, thus defeating the Frenchman 3-1 in sets.

The third round brings the toughest possible challenge for Džumhur - across the net will stand the brilliant Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the world number two and, according to many, the top favourite for the Grand Slam in Paris.

Undoubtedly, the Spaniard, who is defending his title from last year - when he defeated German Alexander Zverev in the final after a great battle, will be a heavy favourite against the Bosnian tennis player.
