Lindsey Vonn tired of retirement, returning to the slopes

(Patria) - Lindsey Vonn (40) is returning from retirement to rejoin the U.S. ski team and compete six years after her last Olympic Games.

Vonn is a three-time Olympic medalist, including gold in downhill and bronze in super-G at the 2010 Vancouver Games, and bronze in downhill at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games. She won the World Cup four times and is also an owner of eight World Championship medals.

Vonn's last competition was in February 2019, after a series of injuries throughout her career, marked by broken arms, legs, concussions, and torn ligaments.

Vonn had knee surgery this April, which has not deterred her intention to return to skiing.

"Returning to skiing without pain has been an incredible journey," Vonn said.

She stated that she wants to "continue to share her knowledge of the sport with the incredible women on the U.S. team".

U.S. Ski & Snowboard President and CEO, Sophie Goldschmidt, said that Lindsey Vonn's dedication and passion for alpine skiing are inspiring.

The next Winter Olympic Games will be held in Italy in February 2026.
