Lejla Njemčević Vice-Champion of Europe, Made History for BiH Cycling!

(Patria) - The best BiH cyclist Lejla Njemčević competed on Sunday at the European Championship in the marathon discipline, held in Viborg, Denmark. Njemčević became the Vice-Champion of Europe and made history for BiH in this sport.

Njemčević rode a course 85 kilometers long with a 1,500-meter elevation gain.

This is the first medal in the history of BiH cycling from a European Championship. She won the silver medal in an incredible sprint finish, by less than the length of a bicycle.

"On a short course and without long climbs, which certainly doesn't suit Lejla, she secured second place with smart and experienced riding. Tears, sweat, sacrifice, and discipline show that anything is possible. Lejla is the current leader of the World Series and winner of the World Cup," announced her coach Amar Njemčević.

First place was won by Rosa Van Doorn from the Netherlands, while third place was taken by Claudia Peretti from Italy.
