Lejla Njemčević secures convincing victory at UCI C1 race in Croatia

(Patria) - The best BiH cyclist, Lejla Njemčević, achieved victory from the last starting position with an outstanding performance at the XCO UCI C1 race in Vodice, Croatia. Our competitor took the lead on the very first climb and maintained it at a high pace for all five laps.

This was Njemčević's fifth victory overall on the Vodice track, earning her another 60 UCI points. The second place went to Angelina Hinder from Austria, who was 9 minutes and 34 seconds behind Njemčević, while the third place was taken by Italy's Elena Dal Ben with a deficit of just over 14 minutes.

The race in Vodice, on an extremely technically rocky and physically demanding track, served as the final test of form and adaptation to the terrain before competing in the World Cup in Elba, Italy, which takes place on May 9th. Lejla Njemčević currently holds 8th place on the world UCI marathon ranking list and does not hide her ambitions to return to the very top.

"We are extremely satisfied with the form shown on the technically demanding track in Vodice, which served as the final preparation and simulation of the terrain that awaits me in Elba. We completed very disciplined and tough winter preparations, and we honed our form at the Cape Epic, so I am entering the main part of the season with great confidence.

Our goal, as always, is the podium and the very top of the world UCI ranking list. The season will be long and demanding, and I am sure that is my greatest advantage," said Lejla Njemčević.

Let us remind you that Njemčević won a brilliant second place at the World Cup race in Elba last season, while at the opening of this season, at the first World Cup in Spain in February, she took sixth place.
