Lejla Njemčević opens new season tomorrow with participation in the World Cup in Spain

(Patria) - The best BiH cyclist Lejla Njemčević is competing in the first race of the new season tomorrow, at the UCI World Cup Costa Blanca, held in Spain.

Competitors can expect an extremely demanding 82-kilometer course with a total elevation gain of 2,700 meters. The race profile is characterized by short and technically exhausting climbs, technical descents, and very dry terrain due to high temperatures in this part of Spain. These conditions make it difficult to control the bike, choose tires, and strategize for the race, requiring maximum concentration from the very start.

Lejla starts at 08:00 AM, and the start line is expected to feature the world's best marathon riders competing for the first points of the new season.

This will also be Lejla's first official race on her new Orbea bike. During the winter, Njemčević completed part of her training in Spain, where she adapted to similar terrain and climatic conditions to those she will face in the race itself.

Last season, Njemčević secured an excellent 4th place in the overall World Cup standings, once again confirming her consistent top results on the international stage. This was the fourth consecutive year that our competitor finished in the top five of the overall World Cup standings. The goal for the new season is to return to the very top of the overall rankings, with a focus on key World Cup races, the European Championship, and the World Championship.

The season opener at Costa Blanca represents an important test of form and an indicator of her condition after the preparation period, while the most important races are expected in June.
