(Patria) - The best BH cyclist Lejla Njemčević competes today in the second World Cup held in Andorra at an altitude of over 2,000 metres.
In the first series of the World Cup in Italy, Njemčević finished second and currently holds second place in the general standings with 200 UCI points.
This year's UCI HERO marathon series of the World Cup consists of five World Cup races, and we will learn the overall winner in September in Spain when the final series takes place.
Our competitor faces a very demanding schedule of three consecutive competitions.
After the race in Andorra, Njemčević will compete the following weekend at the European Championship in Girona, Italy, where she will defend the silver medal she won last year in Denmark, i.e., the first medal from the European Championship in cycling for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
There will be no time for rest after the European Championship because just six days later, Njemčević is expected to compete in the third World Cup in Val Gardena, Italy.
In the general World Cup standings, the leading competitor is Dutch rider Rosa Van Doorn with 250 points, Njemčević holds second place with 200 points, while the experienced German Adelheid Morath is in third.
These top three competitors are also the biggest favourites for victory on the mountain track in Andorra, with the highest climb at 2,237 metres above sea level.
